The Young AICC runs a range of large-scale, inspiring events with leading figures, including Prime Ministers, CEOs and Olympic Athletes. 

 

The aim of these events is to create inspiring networking opportunities for future business leaders that offer unique access to Australian leaders of industry who share their wisdom and learnings from their career and life.

Since 2010, we have hosted over 5000 young professionals at our networking events.

 

A percentage of all ticket proceeds are donated to a charity of the speaker's choice and, in this way, the Young AICC has raised over $90,000 for various charities since 2010.

Changing the game with Richard Murray

On Monday 17 September, we were proud to host 140 guests to hear from the amazing Richard Murray, Group CEO of JB Hi-Fi.

 

In a rare talk with one of the sharpest operators in Australian retail, Richard shared his many experiences, challenges and lessons from his personal and professional life.

 

Richard Murray has been a senior executive at JB Hi-Fi for over 15 years, and he now holds the role of Group CEO of the combined group of JB Hi-Fi and the Good Guys - an $870m acquisition - where he has been responsible for continuing the company’s low-cost, high-sales model through a period of significant transition.

2018 Property Panel

On June 21, we hosted our annual property forum with:

 

- Larry Kestelman, Executive Chair of LK Property Group

- Danni Addison, CEO Urban Development Institute of Australia

- Len Warson, CEO Glenvill

- Kate Frear, Principal Woods Bagot

 

Our panel shared their insights on the future ofproperty, including the latest trends and developments on building, infrastructure, regulation, sustainability and affordability.

 

The panel was hosted by Maddocks.

 

50% of ticket proceeds were donated to the Property Industry Foundation.

Up close with the ceo, shayne elliott aNZ BAnk

On March 27, 2018, the YAICC hosted 150 members to hear from Shayne Elliott, CEO of ANZ Bank. In a special and personal interview, Shayne shared how he rose from humble beginnings to heading the fourth largest company in Australia. 
 

Shayne offered his unique insights from a life of leadership in business, such as his views on what makes great leaders, how to build a culture of innovation, and the future of banking.

The event was hosted at Deloitte and sponsored by Central Equity. Ticket proceeds were donated to Frontyard Youth Services.

Life in the Fast Lane with Stephanie Rice

On September 27, 2017, the YAICC hosted over a hundred members to hear from three-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Stephanie Rice. Steph spoke about her journey from sport to social impact, entrepreneurism and mentoring, offering amazing insight into the mental strength it takes to succeed in sport and business alike. 

The event was hosted at One Roof Melbourne with support from Bendigo and Adelaide Bank and FBI Travel. Ticket proceeds were donated to Opportunity International Australia.

The City of the Future with Paul O'Sullivan and Hila Oren

 

In March, in an interview-style discussion, we heard from Paul O'Sullivan, Chairman of Optus, on what he thinks the city of the future might look like, specifically focusing how technology will change the way we live and interact, lessons on leadership, disruption and global growth, and what role telecommunications will play. We also heard from Hila Oren, CEO and Co-Founder of Tel Aviv Global, a city-owned company of the Municipality of Tel Aviv concerned with the global development of the city. 

An Evening with Tracey Fellows, CEO REA Group

 

In February, on the eve of International Womens' Day, the Young AICC hosted an event at CBRE with one of Australia's most successful leaders, Tracey Fellows. Tracey shared her unique journey and insights on leadership, diversity, culture and innovation along with her views on diversity in Australian companies, the future of the property industry, REA’s unique story, and how Australian innovators can grow into global markets. 

 

Proceeds from tickets raised over $3000 for the Bourke Street Fund.

The Great Debate: Property VS Shares

 

On Wed 30 November, 2016, over 115 guests joined the Young AICC for the Great Debate: Property vs Shares.

Hosted by Colliers International Melbourne City Sales team, we raised over $2,000 from ticket sales to support those who lost their homes in the fires across Israel.

A Night with Uri Levine, CEO of WAZE

 

In September 2016, the Young AICC hosted a special evening with legendary serial entrepreneur Uri Levine - 'The Billion Dollar Man' – at NAB Labs. Uri shared the story of how he built his startup Waze into a global game changer including the eventual sale to Google for over $1b.

Uri shared his tips for young entrepreneurs and the trends that will change the way we live and interact in the future. Thanks to Australian Friends of Tel Aviv University for bringing Uri out to Australia.

Chris Judd, Life Beyond Football

 

In July, 2016, the Young AICC hosted over 120 guests for a 'Special Evening with Chris Judd- Life Beyond Football' at the spectacular office of Woods Bagot. Chris inspired the crowd, describing what it takes to be a professional athlete and what life and leadership look like post-sport.

Culture of Innovation with Vish Nandlall, former CTO at Telstra

 

In May 2016, the Young AICC hosted an evening with Vish Nandlall, former CTO at Telstra, talking about "Creating a Culture of Innovation". Vish shared his insights to "trust each other, allow for risks, have conviction".

An evening with the hon. Julia Gillard

 

In July 2015, the Young AICC hosted former Prime Minister, the hon. Julia Gillard for a special evening to discuss her life, her legacy, the importance of education, women in leadership and her impressions of Israel as a a special country that emphasises innovation and education based on her three trips there.

Food Entrepreneurs Panel

 

In June 2015, the Young AICC held its fourth event for the year on "entrepreneurship and 'cult brands' in the food industry".  This event sold out in a record-breaking three days.

 

Panelists Tim McDonald (Fonda Mexican), Declan Lee (Gelato Messina) and Sal Malatesta (St Ali Coffee) covered topics ranging from their own respective entrepreneurial journeys; their different perspectives on creating and maintaining a cult brand; and what it is that excites them personally about the future.

The Future of Travel

 

In April 2015, the Young AICC travel panel took off at Maddocks with over 100 people arriving to hear from 

  • Jennifer Adams. Former Channel 7 News Presenter and Founder, Producer and Presenter of 'Places We Go' 

  • Gus Balbontin, former CTO, Executive Director and Board Member of Lonely Planet 

  • Michael Pearson, Director of Product and e-Commerce at Expedia.

The Future of Property

 

In March 2015, over 120 members turned up to hear four of the big names in the Australian property market at the YAICC Property Panel.

 

Hosted at CBRE, the combined money raised from ticket sales and a charity auction, run by local property auctioneer and panelist, Phillip Kingston, managed to raise more than $4,000 for the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation.

Behind the Scenes of Israel's Startup World

Hosted at KPMG, the Young AICC held a panel with three Israeli innovators:

  • Jonathan Saacks,

  • Barry Levenfeld, and 

  • Michael Silberg

who shared their perspectives on Israel’s incredible startup sector.

 

Together we raised over $1300 for AUSiMED.

An evening with Bernard Salt, AM 

 

Bernard Salt is widely regarded as one of Australia’s leading social commentators by business, the media and the broader community.

An author and columnist with The Australian and Herald Sun newspapers, Salt is currently Chairman of the Tourism Forecasting Committee and is also a partner of KPMG

 

Bernard gave the Young AICC a fascinating insight into the future of business and demographic trends in Australia.

2013 End of Year Function with Grant Hackett

Young AICC hosted its end of year Cocktail Reception at the Crown Towers with three-time Olympic Gold Medal winner, Grant Hackett OAM.

Grant spoke of his experiences winning Olympic gold and transitioning into a successful career as a finance executive at Westpac. He spoke about his endeavour to apply the same principles that led him to become the world’s best in the pool to his corporate career.

Women's LUNCH with Berry Liberman, CO-FOUNDER SMALL GIANTS

In October 2013, the Young AICC proudly launched its first women’s event. The exclusive lunch, hosted by DLA Piper, saw a candid discussion with Berry Liberman, Co-Founder of Small Giants.

Committee member Romy Grace led the Q&A with Berry, prompting a passionate and insightful conversation into the principles underpinning Small Giants and Berry’s key driving force behind impact investments in sustainable business. 

Lunch with Greg Ellis, CEO REA Group

 

The Young AICC heard from one of Australia's leading CEO's about what it's like to lead a fast growing and innovative business.

Held at Nexia, Greg spoke of the importance of growing talent and high performing teams. He spoke of REA's innovative horizontal structure and the freedom given for future leaders to shine.
